Arguably the most important one at this moment is ignoring video. You may think that you’ve done great so far without video. But as our attention spans get shorter and shorter an eye-popping image with great copy just won’t cut it.

Worst Marketing Mistakes #2 Poor Content Quality
At this point my face is red from all the palm to face moments I have when I am auditing social sites. I’m sure you’ve heard this plenty of times, quality over content.
Quality is just not providing value its also in production of the content itself. Clients tell me they are sharing valuable content and truthfully they are. But, they don’t take time to create high quality images that are not blurry, that are within their brand style, and are scroll stopping!
The opposite is also true some have amazing images and videos but no value and focus on hard selling and promotion.
Worst Marketing Mistakes #3 Selling Too Soon/Too Hard
Which leads me to the point of hard selling and over promotion. Some business owners are focused on over promotion of their products and services that you cue in the barf emoji.
We get so focused on promoting and pushing ourselves onto our audience that when we lose them we are left wondering why. This baffles me when speaking to potential clients that they can’t do that. Think of your business as a dating game between you and the person of your dreams.
Take time to nurture the relationship. Just like there is a proper flow to dating, selling also has its proper flow. The sales flow includes finding the right audience, creating interest, educating your prospect, and finally closing the sale.

Working with a new client and going over their big instagram launch I discover they have no email list. They run a small women’s clothing retailer about an hour away from Houston.
Here’s the problem. First, if they were to lose their 1000 followers on Facebook someday how would then drive traffic into their store when they get new seasonal items. What about sales? Secondly, how would you continue to nurture a relationship with someone who happened to stumble upon your shop and bought some items?

Your target audience is not well defined. You must have a more prominent core interest. Rather than showcasing to females between the age of 18-25, you have to find out about your target demographic.

- Where do they hang out?
- Who do they look forward to?
- What are their feelings of trepidation and desires?
- What is their degree of training?
- What is their monthly income?
- Where do they live?
- How would they settle on purchasing choices?

Likewise, as with your target market, marketing should also go deep instead of broad.
